Concordia University
At the end of March, the 5th through 8th graders journeyed to Concordia University. While they were there, they participated in a campus tour, attended chapel with the college students, and attended a college science class. During the class, the college students put on mini science lessons and let the middle schoolers try some hands-on experiments. After learning about clouds, bones, and different chemical reactions, the Holy Ghost students ate in the Concordia cafeteria. Finally, the trip ended with a visit to the university's gym where the Athletic Director talked about how to be a Christian athlete.
Lutheran High South
In December, the 5th through 8th graders traveled to Lutheran High South in Monroe to be a part of their preview day. They traveled to various classrooms and learned about the high school. Their favorite classroom was the science room where they got to watch some pretty neat science experiments. The day ended with a sneak preview of LHS's drama production and a pizza lunch.
Toledo Museum of Art
At the end of September, the 5th through 8th graders traveled to the Toledo Museum of Art. Their art teacher, Mrs. Jacobs, gave the students a scavenger hunt to help them explore the museum and see a variety of art pieces. They spent almost 2 hours exploring and viewing the creative pieces.
While they were there, a traveling art exhibit called "The Art of Video Games" was visiting the TMA. The students enjoyed getting hands-on in this art exhibit. They were able to play old video games like Mario and Pacman in their original versions, while learning about the art behind video game graphics and consoles. |
